If you are a believer, you have a job to do
We are safe in our churches. We are in the Kingdom of God. The hounds of Hell bark and claw at the doors, but cannot get in. And here we sit, safe.
But this isn’t where God wants us to be. You see, there are the hellhounds out there, but there are helpless victims out there, too. To leave them to the “mercies” of the enemy is to commit a grave sin. We have the Roman road that tells us how to win souls for God, but we need to make sure we go out those doors with our God-given sword in hand. Our Bibles are the sword that will protect us from the minions of the enemies. Our breast plate of HIS righteousness will keep our heart safe. Our helmet of salvation, purchased with the blood of our Lord, will keep our minds separate from worldly thoughts and lies. Our armor of God protects us.
God never intended us to hole up in a safe place and just live. It is and will always be His intent for us to fight against the powers and principalities of the enemy. He has never intended us to sit back and wait for people to come to us. He said to go out, compel others to come in. Urge them to come in.
And we must fight. If we spend our lives merely defending the siege of the enemy, we have lost an important battle. As big, and strong, and powerful as the enemy army seems, they have already lost the war – and they know it.
And we will always have the name of the Lord as a strong tower, When we are afraid, or tired, or just confused, our Tower will be there as a refuge. But let us never get so comfortable in our refuge that we lose sight of the battle raging all around. Rest if you need to. Be comforted, be healed.
But then get back out and take back the ground that the enemy has stolen from us. The first steps outside the gate are the hardest. The enemy will try to push you back inside. That’s because he knows that once you’re out, you cannot be stopped, because your shield is stronger than any weapon he has, and your sword cannot be stopped.
If you don’t try to bring your friends, neighbors and family members to Christ, who will? And if they never come to Him because of our silence, and they go to Hell, will the God of Justice not hold us accountable? The Great Commission applies to each and every one of us. You have been commissioned by God. Have you fulfilled that commission?
